Do you follow the CAPS/government curriculum? We use local books and books from A Beka Christian College in Pensacola, Florida, USA. We are compliant with CAPS curriculum. How much are your school fees and are there any additional costs throughout the year? Our school fees are very competitive to other independent schools, please contact our office should you require our current fees. Do you offer any activities, such as sport? Physical exercise - during school hours all year round. (No charge) How many learners do you have per grade? We only accept the maximum of 20 learners per grade. We try to not accept more than 18 learners per grade to give individual tuition and encourage independent learning. Do you offer Aftercare? We offer Aftercare to all our learners during school terms only. Homework is supervised and various activities are offered during the afternoons. Aftercare is open until 6 PM daily, Monday to Friday, excluding public and school holidays. Aftercare includes a cooked lunch and mid-afternoon snack. From what age/grade do you take learners? We accept learners in the year they turn 4 (Gr. 000); We may accept learners turning 3 if they are potty trained, such learners will remain in Gr. 000 for two years. We are a Nursery and Primary School and our grades are from Grade 000 to Grade 7. What is the language of teaching in your school? The language of teaching and learning is English in all subjects; Afrikaans is taught as a FAL subject. Must learners be able to speak or understand English to attend your school? Yes, especially for Gr. R to Gr. 7. Grade 000 learners must at least understand some English even if they do not speak the language. Do new learners have to do assessment tests? Only those applying for Grade R to Grade 6. These tests cover English grammar, reading, reading comprehension and math for Grades 1 to 6. For Grade R learners the assessment covers their ability to read basic 3-letter words in English, their understanding of English and their ability to speak English and if they at least know Letter Land and how to write their name, as well as the normal developmental stages of 5 year old children. Are you a completely Independent School? Yes, we are. We receive no funds from the government or from business. We rely solely on the income of school fees to maintain/upgrade our premises, to pay our staff and to maintain the quality and standard of education we offer. Do you use technology in the classrooms? Yes, educators have projectors and utilize their laptops for various lessons. .
